5-Day Reiki Level 1 Initiation Retreat in Peru
Reconnect, Restore & Learn Reiki in the Peruvian Amazon

Experience Usui Reiki through a 5-day Reiki Level 1 initiation retreat in Peru, immersed in the natural rhythm of the Amazon. Combining personalized Usui Reiki training, alignment-based yoga, nourishing plant-based cuisine, and nature's restorative presence, this retreat offers the time and space to deepen your connection with yourself while learning a gentle practice you can carry with you for the rest of your life.

Unlike a traditional weekend Reiki course, this immersive five-day experience gives you time to learn, practice, receive Reiki sessions, ask questions, reflect, and begin integrating Reiki into your daily life—all within the supportive environment of the retreat.

Skill level: Beginner & Intermediate

No prior Reiki or yoga experience is necessary. Whether you're completely new to Reiki or wish to deepen an existing practice, you'll be supported in learning and exploring Reiki at your own pace.

Feeling called to slow down, reconnect, and experience something meaningful immersed in nature?

Retreats are private for one guest or two guests traveling together, allowing for a highly personalized Reiki learning experience. If you come on your own, no additional participants will be added to your retreat.

For guests with more limited time, a shorter 4-day / 3-night version may also be available. Please contact us for details.

What to Expect

The five-day retreat is designed to unfold gradually, giving you time to experience Reiki, learn and practice it, and then integrate what you've learned without feeling rushed.

Day 1 is about arriving and experiencing.

Many guests come to the retreat having never received a Reiki session before, so your Reiki journey begins by experiencing a session as a recipient. Later, a gentle yoga practice helps you settle in, ground, and prepare for the Reiki training ahead.

Days 2 and 3 focus primarily on your Reiki Level 1 initiation and training.

You'll receive your four Reiki attunements, learn about the practice and its origins, begin your Reiki self-practice, and gain hands-on experience offering Reiki sessions to others.

Days 4 and 5 are about practice, integration, and building confidence.

With the formal Reiki Level 1 training completed, Day 4 allows you to experience both sides of a complete Reiki session: you'll receive a full Reiki session and then practice offering one yourself. Afterwards, we'll take time to share our experiences, answer questions, and offer supportive feedback and guidance.

Day 5 provides further time for Reiki self-practice, reflection, and exploring how you might continue developing your practice beyond the retreat. The pace also becomes more spacious during these final days, with time to enjoy the lagoon, rest in a hammock, journal, spend time with the horses, or simply enjoy the natural surroundings.

The intention is for you to leave the retreat feeling confident in your Reiki self-practice and in your ability to offer a Reiki session to others.

Who Is This Reiki Retreat For?

This retreat may be especially suited to you if you:

  • Want to reconnect with yourself in a more meaningful and grounded way

  • Feel drawn to personal growth, reflection, mindfulness, or spiritual exploration

  • Are curious about Reiki but prefer a grounded, beginner-friendly, and non-dogmatic approach

  • Want to learn a practical, empowering practice you can turn to whenever you need it, integrate into your daily life, and share with others

  • Long for peaceful time immersed in nature, away from the pace and stimulation of everyday life

  • Feel mentally or emotionally overwhelmed and would welcome the opportunity to slow down

  • Love animals and appreciate the opportunity to spend meaningful time with the horses

You don't need to consider yourself spiritual or particularly sensitive to energy to participate. Curiosity and an openness to experiencing Reiki are enough.

Understanding Reiki

Reiki is one of the more widely known forms of energy healing. Originating in Japan, it is a gentle holistic practice based on the idea that universal life-force energy can flow through the practitioner and support the recipient's own natural capacity for balance and well-being. The word Reiki is commonly understood as universal life-force energy.

A Reiki session is traditionally offered through light touch or with the hands held slightly above the body. The recipient remains fully clothed, and sessions are generally experienced as quiet and relaxing.

Reiki doesn't require special abilities or prior spiritual experience. It is traditionally learned through initiation, direct experience, and practice. During this retreat, you'll receive your Reiki Level 1 initiation, including four attunements, and learn how to develop your own Reiki self-practice as well as how to offer Reiki sessions to others.

For many people, Reiki becomes an ongoing practice of self-care, mindfulness, presence, and inner awareness.

What if I don't feel Reiki energy?

One of the most common questions when learning Reiki is, “What if I don't feel anything?” Reiki can be experienced very differently from one person to another. Some people notice warmth, tingling, pulsing, or other subtle sensations in their hands or body. Others experience deep relaxation or a sense of calm, while some feel very little at all. These experiences can change from session to session and also over time.

You don't need to be especially sensitive to energy, see auras, or have unusual or mystical experiences to learn and practice Reiki. There is no particular sensation you are expected to have.

I don't consider myself especially sensitive to subtle energy today. I don't see auras or past lives, or have the kinds of extraordinary experiences that some people associate with energy work. And still, after many years of practicing and teaching, Reiki never ceases to amaze me. This has helped shape the way I teach Reiki: with curiosity rather than expectation, and without asking students to feel something simply because they think they should.

During this five-day retreat, you'll have time to practice, receive Reiki sessions, ask questions, and explore your own experience in an unhurried and supportive setting.

The Experience

Throughout your stay, life unfolds at an unhurried pace, with time for learning and practice balanced by space to rest, reflect, and simply enjoy your surroundings.

Self-care is woven throughout the retreat. Two gentle yoga and meditation sessions invite movement, awareness, and relaxation, while two traditional aromatic plant baths offer quiet moments to slow down and connect with the natural environment. These practices complement the Reiki training without taking the focus away from it.

Tambo Ilusión is a small, family-run retreat center where guests are welcomed not simply into a retreat program, but into the home, environment, and way of life Armando and I have consciously created over many years. With only one guest—or two guests traveling together—the experience is deeply personalized and can adapt naturally to your questions and pace of learning.

Learning also extends beyond the formal Reiki sessions. Questions often arise naturally while sharing meals around the table, walking to visit the horses, or in the everyday moments in between. These informal conversations are part of what makes an immersive Reiki retreat different from completing a Reiki course over a weekend.
